Dear Sir / Madam,

I am a contributor of Cathopedia, the Italian Catholic wiki[1], founded by two Italian priests, Fr. Paolo Benvenuto and Fr. Giovanni Benvenuto. Cathopedia has been online as of January 13, 2006. It has about 9,000 articles related to the Roman Catholic World.

Recently, Cathopedia has been greeted with praise by the Catholic Church:

  • On 8th March 2010 Cathopedia received a note of appreciation from Mons. Domenico Pompili, Director of the National Board for Social Communications of the Italian Episcopal Conference[2].
  • The fifth anniversary of the Project, on January 13, 2011, was hailed by an article published on Avvenire, the newspaper of the Italian Episcopal Conference[3], and on L’Osservatore Romano, the newspaper of the Holy See[4].
  • On October 13, 2011, the Vatican Congregation for the Clergy sent a letter to the Project where we were encouraged to pursue our endevours, aimed at the continued education of clergy[5].
  • On February 22, 2012, the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of New Evangelisation, more precisely its President, Mons. Rino Fisichella, sent another letter of appreciation to the Project[6].

We could only be greeted with these letters because our efforts aim at being authoritative and trustworthy while keeping in faith with the Letter and Doctrine of Roman Catholicism[7][8]. It's the administrators' care to keep the project along these lines.

With your help, we look forward to growing an international net of Roman Catholic wikis which could share the same appreciation the Italian Cathopedia has received, thus spreading the Word of the Roman Catholic Church even further.

With the Year of Faith coming up, we think it is especially important for web surfers to be given trustworthy material from all the Roman Catholic wikis in virtually every language. As agreed with Fr. Paolo, I am also contacting you to envisage a common strategy for our projects, ut unum sint (Jn 17:11), in order for them “to be one” in spirit and faith.

Thanks for your kind attention, I hope to hear from you soon,

Roberto Reggi
